Thunderbird District - Three Fires Council

On October 17-19, 2008, 13 troops from Potawatomi Trails & Thunderbird Districts came together for a great weekend of Scout skills, friendship and competitions along the shores of the mighty Kyte River at the Adventure Camp in Rochelle, IL. View photos of their adventures in this album.

Webelos, parents, & leadersfrom Thunderbird District participated in the annual Webelos Overnight which was held at the Thunderbird Youth Campgrounds in June, 2008. The Webelos had the opportunity to work on many of their Webelos Activity Pins with help from Scouts from many of our Thunderbird Troops during this event.

The 2008 Thunderbird District Dinner was held at the Lisle Hilton on April 25, 2008. Three District Award of Merit Recipients, 3 Spark Plug Recipients & a Silver Acorn Recipient from each unit were honored at this dinner. Also honored at this dinner was Rick Warren who earned the 2007 Silver Beaver Award from Three Fires Council.

The businesses and Mayors of Lisle, Naperville, & Woodridge joined together for their annual Mayors' Community Leadership Fundraising Breakfast in support of Scouting. This year the breakfast was held on April 17, 2008 at the Naperville Country Club.

Thunderbird District held it's annual Klondike Derby at Camp Big Timber in Elgin. Webelos Dens & Scout Troops enjoyed plenty of snow & ice as they had fun competing and journeying through the 10 towns of this outdoor event.

The 21st World Scout Jamboree was hosted by the Scout Association of the United Kingdom from July 27 until August 8, 2007. It brought together 40,000 Scouts, Venturers, leaders, and staff for 12 days. They shared adventure, international friendship, personal growth, and development.
