Thunderbird District OA Chapter Meetings are held at the LDS Church in Naperville at 1320 Ridgeland Ave, Naperville, IL 60563. Chapter meetings are at 7:30 pm on the second Thursday of each month. Each Troop should send a representative to the monthly meetings.
Our next chapter meeting will be held at 7:30 pm, Thursday, March 8th. We will meet at the church, then adjourn next door to McDonalds for some fellowship, so bring some $ to buy snackage. We will celebrate completing all our elections, and want to get ideas for future meetings, and to plan a fun OA Chapter outing.
An extremely large Thank You! to all OA members who helped with elections this year. A very large thank you to Matt and Jonathan who did the majority of the work. Many Scoutmasters have complemented the election teams on their knowledge and how they ran the elections. Way to go Thunderbird OA!
OA representatives, come to Chapter meetings at roundtable to get the information you need to fulfill your responsibilities as your troop's OA representative!
Unit OA Elections
Our last two elections will be held the week of Feb. 19th. Thunderbird election teams have held elections for all units who have requested them. Thank you to all who let us hold elections for your units! And, an early reminder to get your nominees to one of the up-coming ordeal opportunities.
Brotherhood Conversion
Are you ready to seal your membership in the Order? There will be a Brotherhood Conversion ceremony on Feb. 25 from 12 noon - 1:30 pm at Merit Badge University, York High School, Elmhurst.
Service Opportunities
The Camp Big Timber Ranger has a variety of projects that need to be done this year. Here is an opportunity for all Arrowmen, youth and adults to lend cheerful service to one of the Council's camps.
The following dates have been selected for work projects at Camp Big Timber:
- April 14
- June 7
- June 9
- July 7
- July 21
- August 4
- August 18
- September 22
The following are the projects that the need to be completed this year at Camp Big Timber:
- build new steps for the Tree House
- fix and stain the dumpster fence
- fix up the wood storage sheds
- paint all steel entry doors
- paint the exterior of T-lodge
- fix the roof at the BB gun range
- rebuild the mechanical room door in the shower house
- repair picnic tables
- reframe the compass-rose near the flagpoles
- seal the K-lodge deck
- seal the BB gun range
- seal the tree house
- split and stack firewood
Please let Art Styles, the CBT Ranger know you are interested in helping, and if there is a particular project or date that you can work. He will need to know how many are coming to plan for lunch.
Section C7 Conclave: Friday April 27 - Sunday April 29
Conclave is the highlight of everyone's Scouting career. Come out to Camp Lakota for a weekend full of brotherhood, training and activities. Last year's conclave featured blow up boxing & a ho-dag, so come see what is in stock for you this year.
Scout-O-Rama: Saturday May 19 at Cantigny, Wheaton
Spring Fellowship: Friday June 1 - Sunday June 3 at Camp Freeland Leslie, Oxford, WI
This is the first opportunity for nominees to accomplish their Ordeal. Other opportunities will be during each week of Summer Camp at CFL, and at Fall Fellowship which will be held at Adventure Camp, Rochelle, IL
NOAC: July 30 - August 4, 2012
NOAC (National Order of the Arrow Conclave) will be held Monday July 30 through Saturday August 4, 2012 at Michigan State University in Lansing, Michigan.

Purpose of the Order of the Arrow
Elections and Membership
Each unit may elect Scouts and a Scouter who warrant recognition as noted in the purpose statements.
Elections are conducted by members of the Order of the Arrow at each unit during the winter.
A Scout must be First Class rank, have a minimum of 15 days and nights of Boy Scout camping experience during the two-year period prior to the election. The 15 days and nights must include one, but no more than one, long-term camp consisting of six consecutive days and five nights of resident camping, approved and under the auspices and standards of the BSA. The balance of the camping must be overnight, weekend, or other short-term camps.
Candidates must meet the requirements for membership as specified by the national Order of the Arrow committee.
Elected candidates must attend the Lowaneu Allanque Lodge #41 Ordeal ceremony in order to become a member of the Order of the Arrow. The Ordeal ceremony is held at the Spring Fellowship weekend at Camp Freeland Leslie, Oxford, WI, Fall Fellowship weekend at Adventure Camp, Rochelle, IL and at Camp Freeland Leslie during every week of Boy Scout Summer camp.
